Biography
Sigfús Þorgeir Fossdal is a professional international heavyweight strongman athlete residing in Akureyri, Iceland. Sigfús is a versatile and incredibly talented professional strongman with over 20 years of world records and championships in strength athletics. He is versed in strongman, powerlifting, bodybuilding, and is a total strength athlete. Utilizing his extremely unique and effective training system, coupled with his unwavering work ethic and dedication has allowed him to not only become a champion, but to help others achieve their goals as well through his coaching.
Sigfús’ has competed in numerous of strongman competitions including over five top podium finishes in 2018. He shares the natural stone press record with Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson and is the former record holder for the axle clean and press. In 2017, he competed at the international Arnold Classic Professional Strongman Europe competition among the top ten strongest men in the world, and will be returning to this competition in 2018. Sigfús’ incredible powerlifting career encompasses numerous IPF, WPF, and IPL championships and world records. These amazing records include but are not limited to- highest Icelandic total in history, highest bench press in history, and highest squat in history, IPL world record total, and WPF world record bench.
Sigfús is very active within the sports community outside of his own training through his coaching, training, social media, and published works. Sigfús is happily married with three children and is currently completing his Bachelor of the Arts degree in Psychology. Training out of Iceland.
Now in 2019, Sigfus competed at the Worlds Strongest Man for the first time. This was a dream come true, but also calls for upgrade in goals, so Sigfus now has the goal to get to the finals at WSM in 2020 or 2021.
